The Rainbow Six Siege Major Raleigh 2019 begins tomorrow!

After cruising to a comfortable victory at the Allied Esports Vegas Minor with an exciting final versus LeStream esports going down to the wire, the Team Secret boys, Matthew “meepeY” Sharples, Leon “LeonGids” Giddens, Bryan “Elemzje” Tebessi, Aku “Fonkers” Seppä and new addition Daniel “Ferral” Rotheram earned a spot at the premiere, 500,000$ Major in Raleigh.

Venue, Format, Groups

Raleigh Major will be held at the Raleigh Convention Centre, starting on the 12th of August and culminating with the Grand Final on the 18th of August. There will be four groups with 4 teams each (Team Secret being part of group B). Groups will be played out in the GSL format, meaning each team plays an opening match (match 1), with the winners of those matches playing each other for a playoff spot (match 2), the losers playing an elimination match (match 3) and finally, a decider match between the loser of match 2 and the winner of match 3 for the second playoff spot per group.

This will give us a total of 8 teams for the playoff rounds, which are in a classic, best of three, single elimination format, with the winner looking to take home the title as well as a cool 200,000$ grand prize.

The match rules follow the standard Rainbow Six Siege format – 12 rounds are to be played, with the goal of being the first team to reach 7 rounds. If the match ends with a 6-6 tie, an overtime consisting of 3 additional rounds is played in order to decide the winner.

Team Secret’s Group And Opponents

As mentioned previously, Team Secret is in group B, along with G2 Esports, Rogue and Cyclops athlete gaming. As reigning champions of the previous two majors, G2 Esports pose the biggest threat of the group, with their experienced squad looking to earn yet another major title. They are playing Cyclops AG, the Asia Pacific qualifier hopefuls. Team Secret’s opponent in the first round of the matches is Team Rogue, the only other team apart from the Secret boys to finish the Allied Esports Minor groups with a 3-0 score.  The Group B winners will further face the Group C winners, with North American powerhouse Evil Geniuses looking like the strongest contender for the number one spot of that group.
